Sales auto command prefixes

Sales auto command prefixes are used to trigger automated functions in Sales. These prefixes are ONLY used in barcodes or magswipes that are scanned or swiped in Sales. These are not used when scanning barcodes remotely with a Symbol unit or gate scanner.
%E – Used to trigger automated discounts with the scan/swipe of a pass.
%A – Used to trigger the auto-sale of an item with the scan/swipe of a pass.
%R – Used to perform automated retail inventory lookups with the scan of a retail barcode
%B – Most commonly encoded into magswipes of In-House Cards items. Also used when encoding sixteen digit card numbers for use in Card Activity table functionality programs. (See the Salesware Validation document for details on setting up card activity programs.)

While these prefixes are often included in the barcode or magswipe of a pass or ticket, they can also be programmed as a prefix within salespoint scanners. But adding the auto-command prefix to a scanner limits the ability to use more than one auto command prefix at a single point-of-sale. A third option is to configure hot keys (F10, F11 or F12) at the appropriate points-of-sale for the Sales auto-command prefixes. (See Non-standard: Additional hot key option for automated discount programs for another hot key setting that can be used to substitute one auto-command prefix for another with the press of a hot key.)

Example:
A pass can be swiped in Sales to auto-sell single day tickets and it can be swiped in Sales to automate discounts. Track 1 of the magswipe is encoded with %AP plus the unencrypted pass number. Track 2 is encoded with just the unencrypted pass number because track 2 can only encode numbers. In order to send in the %E auto command necessary for discounts, a hot key is configured for Sales. The Sales32c.INI [Preferences] settings that are required for this hot key configuration are:
F12Text="%E”
F12Track=2
F12Prompt="Please Swipe Pass"

When the operator needs to auto sell a ticket, he simply swipes the pass. When the operator needs to discount items in a sale, he pushes the F12 key, and then swipes the pass.
