Creating and loading the Invalid Pass List for offline scanning
Note: This list is also commonly referred to as the Hotlist.
It is possible within SysManager to create an Invalid Pass List. This list is then loaded by ScanMan module upon start-up once connected to SalesEZ application. This allows a Symbol unit to be taken to locations where there is no network connection and scan passes and tickets off-line. The Hotlist prevents invalid passes (not access records) from scanning “good” in this off-line situation. Passes are loaded into the Hotlist based on the following conditions:
• Expired passes are not loaded into the Hotlist.
• Voided For and/or Voided By passes are loaded into the Hotlist.
• Passes that have an individual blackout date range set on their pass record are loaded into the Hotlist assuming that the Hotlist is generated during the individual blackout date range.
• Passes whose template includes a blackout range of dates are loaded into the Hotlist, assuming that the Hotlist is generated during one of the template blackout date ranges.
• Passes whose template is not valid for certain days of the week are loaded into the Hotlist assuming the Hotlist is generated on one of the invalid days of the week.
To create the Invalid Pass List:
1. In SysManager, go to Activities > Pass Activities > Create Invalid Pass List.
2. Create a list of passes that are included in the Invalid Pass List by specifying the Access Control prefix used in pass programs and the As of date.
3. Click the Update button in order to update the existing Invalid Pass List with current information based on the criteria selected.
4. The Invalid Pass List is stored within the server data in a table called hotlist.
5. Upon startup and connection to SalesEZ application, the most recent copy of the Hotlist is loaded by ScanMan module for use in off-line scanning situations.
6. A barcode encoded with *SETHOTLIST* (see following sample) may be scanned in order to check the number of pass records included in the Hotlist loaded on the scanning unit to the number of records within the Hotlist in the server data in order to help verify that the most recent copy of the hotlist is loaded.
