Rentals : Rentals system overview : A closer look at the components of Rentals module : Rentals server

Rentals server

Every rentals shop has a Rentals server. The Rentals server and the components that run on it ensure that any rentals shop can roll over into standalone mode if the Rentals server lose its connection to the Middleware server (in which case the salespoints in use at the rentals shop also lose their connection to the Middleware server – however, this only prevents financial data from being forward to SiriusSQL utility from the salespoints and salespoints can continue without interruption in standalone mode, saving the financial data locally for forwarding later when the connection is re-established with the Middleware server).
The Rentals server allows each shop to be highly customized. Because of the Rentals server, every shop can be quite different. When Self Entry stations are used, they are usually used from the Rentals server, though they can be used from a separate web server as well. A suitably chosen rental server can support a large rental shop by itself. See the Salesware System Architecture and Requirements document for more information.
RentEZ, RentPrint, ww.dll and Self Entry applications are all usually installed on the Rentals server. Salespoints, TechStationPC and TechStationPPC connect with the Rentals server via RentEZ.
