Rentals installation

The Salesware Rentals module provides a way for resorts who offer rentable items to their guests to conveniently and effectively provide this service while retaining reportable customer data and inventory information. Rentals module allows a guest to enter his own information prior to purchasing the rental item(s). Rentals module helps to make the time a guest spends in a rental shop more efficient by expediting the rental process and reducing rental lines. In addition, rentals can be reserved from the web using the Salesware E-Commerce product. See the Salesware E-Commerce User Guide for more information on reserving rental equipment from the web.
The visitor/guest Self Entry pages are an intranet-based application. The pages are run on an intranet web server and provide a means for guests to enter or verify their personal data prior to visiting the rentals shop point-of-sale station. There is a high level of customization available in the pages through the use of cascading style sheets and an XML configuration file. A Self Entry station can be located anywhere network connectivity is available.
At the salespoint, the operator has two options for associating a guest with a rental product. If the guest is a returning renter, then the information can be retrieved through a simple guest lookup. If the guest is a new or first-time renter, then the information from the Self Entry pages can be used. When the sale is finalized, a Rental form can be printed and presented for the guest to sign, eliminating the need for a guest to fill out paper forms.
From the salespoint, the guest is directed to the rental shop where the signed form is scanned using Rentals TechStation module and the ski tech is presented with the guest’s information and rental package data. The ski tech fits the guest with a boot, for example, and scans the boot to add it to the Rental form. A ski or snowboard is then selected and scanned to add it to the Rental form. If a ski is selected, the DIN is automatically calculated and displayed.
When the guest returns to the rental shop, any one piece of equipment can be scanned to recall the form and perform a return or exchange.
Additionally, the rental inventory functionality can be used to track each piece of equipment individually and be used to report guest usage and automatically specify when routine maintenance is due. Rental equipment can be recalled using multiple lookup methods including an internally assigned asset number.
Recommended hardware specifications for Rentals module are provided in the Salesware System Architecture and Specifications and the Salesware Hardware Compatibility List document. These installation instructions assume the recommended hardware.

Note: The following installation instructions assume a ww.dll server that does not host the Siriusware® Inc. E-Commerce product. Servers hosting E-Commerce module installs ww.dll according to the E-Commerce installation instructions.
