Equipment Types
Rental equipment types define the type of equipment in inventory. Examples include ski boots, skis, snowboards, snowboard boots, helmets, bikes and poles. Each type of equipment can include a Description, ShortName, Special Action, Signature Required and Layout if label printing is required for this type of equipment. Optionally, maintenance preferences may also be defined.
• Description – Appears in the TechStationPC application, in SysManager > Activities > Rental Activities > Rental Inventory, used when configuring rental items and used in various rental reports.
• Short Name – Display that appears on the hand-held Worth Data units.
• Special Action – Can be None, Display DIN, Show Stance Angle or Require Boot Sole Length.
• Layout – Graphic label layout used when printing equipment labels for equipment of this type.
• Signature Required - When this check box checked, the equipment type requires a signature when using a signature pad with TechStation module. When a form is retrieved at a TechStation, the types of equipment that can be checked-out are analyzed.
• If a piece of equipment that requires a signature is attached that doesn't involve a DIN calc, it prompts for the signature and “locks” the form so that a signature must be collected before the form can be exited.
• Signatures are also forced when a DIN is calculated (with the same lock and override option).
• Finally, if there are no equipment types configured to require a signature, it forces the signature upon first checkout of equipment (for the boots only or helmet only type of scenario)
• Maintenance Prefs: Max Days – Number of days that can pass before equipment of this type is due for maintenance.
• Maintenance Prefs: Max Rentals – Number of times that equipment of this type can be rented before maintenance is due.
Both pay-up-front and pay-upon-return rental processes need to have equipment types configured that match the rental inventory. Pay-upon-return rental shops need to configure an additional type called *UNLIMITED*. This type is associated with rental contracts used by guests in a pay-upon-return rental flow in order to allow guests to checkout any type of equipment during their rental periods. The one limitation for equipment types in a pay-upon-return process is that only one piece of equipment of the same type may be attached to the same rental contract at the same time. For example, it is not possible to rent two snowboards on the same rental contract at the same time.
