Renting items that are not individually controlled within the rental inventory
At times there may be equipment that can be rented by guests, but equipment of that type is not closely monitored. For example, poles. When a guest rents skis, it is assumed that the guest was also handed a pair of poles and there is no need to specifically track the pole rental on the guest’s Rental form. But at times, a guest may want to rent just poles and it is necessary to attach the pole rental to the guest’s electronic Rental form. In order to rent just poles to guests without tracking each pair of poles individually, a single piece of rental inventory representing poles must be configured.
1. Configure an Equipment Type called POLES (or whatever is appropriate based on the equipment to be rented). Make sure to select the appropriate Equipment Label layout for this equipment type. Do not enter anything for the Special Action.
2. Configure an Equipment Level called *UNLIMITED*.
3. Create a new entry in Rental Activities > Rental Inventory. Give it a description of POLES (or whatever is appropriate based on the equipment to be rented). Select the corresponding Equipment Type (POLES) and select the Equipment Level of *UNLIMITED*.
4. Save the new rental inventory item.
5. Print multiple copies of the equipment label for the single POLES rental inventory item. Print enough to be distributed to all tech benches where poles may be rented.
When guests want to rent just poles, the POLES barcode label may be scanned in order to attach the generic POLES inventory item to the Rental form. To return poles, simply look up the Rental form and click the RET button next to the POLES item.
