Obtaining a DIN setting with guest-owned skis

At times, guests who own their own skis need to rent boots only. In order to have the Salesware Rentals module calculate a DIN setting in this situation, a special rental inventory item needs to be configured and added to the guest’s electronic Rental form.
1. Create a NEW entry in Rental Activities > Rental Inventory.
2. Name the new item CUSTOMER SKIS (or whatever is appropriate).
3. Configure an Equipment Type to be used for the CUSTOMER SKIS inventory item (for example, Customer Skis) and select this type for the CUSTOMER SKIS inventory item.

Note: The Equipment Type configured and selected must have a D entered for the Special Action.

4. Select the Equipment Level of *CUSTOMER* (configure this Equipment Level if necessary).
5. Save the new item.
6. Print multiple copies of the equipment label for the CUSTOMER SKIS rental inventory item and distribute these labels to each tech bench.

When a guest has his/her own skis, the tech scans the CUSTOMER SKIS barcode. Once the CUSTOMER SKIS inventory item has been added to the electronic Rental form, the tech may select the binding manufacturer for the guest-owned skis in order to have the system calculate a DIN setting.
The binding manufacturers available for selection are based on the manufacturers configured within the Binding DIN Charts list in SysManager. In the event that the bindings mounted to the customer skis are not from a manufacturer included in the Binding DIN Charts list, the tech manually has to calculate the DIN settings based on paper charts from the appropriate binding manufacturer.
An optional configuration for customer skis would involve the creation of a CUSTOMER SKI inventory item per binding manufacturer. For example, CUSTOMER SKIS – TYROLIA, CUSTOMER SKIS – LOOK, CUSTOMER SKIS-MARKER, CUSTOMER SKIS – ROSSIGNOL, etc. Within each of these inventory items, the appropriate binding manufacturer is selected. One barcode per customer ski/binding combination is printed and distributed to the tech benches. The tech then scans the appropriate barcode based on the manufacturer of the bindings mounted to the customer skis.
