Pre-set equipment
The use of special inventory items such as customer skis and customer boots can also be helpful when pre-setting equipment for groups. For example, a rental shop pre-sets equipment for groups based on the group member shoe sizes and preferred ski lengths. In order to pre-set all of the equipment without attaching the “real” inventory (in order to accommodate for the exchanges that inevitably occur once guests arrive) a generic “pre-set” ski based on the appropriate binding used for the rental fleet is attached to the Rental form. For boots, a “pre-set boot” that corresponds to the shoe size for the guest is also attached to the Rental form. The DIN is calculated based on the “pre-set” equipment. When the guest arrives, the boot size and DIN settings are verified and exchanged if necessary. The final step is to scan the “real” inventory used by the guest onto the form.
Note: The difference between the *CUSTOMER* equipment level and *UNLIMITED* equipment level is the method used to return the equipment on the Rental form. *UNLIMTED* equipment requires a tech to manually return the equipment on the guest Rental form. *CUSTOMER* equipment is auto-returned immediately after being rented on the form, thus eliminating the step of returning customer owned equipment in order to “close” the guest’s Rental form.
