The two major rental process flows supported by the Salesware Rentals module are:
1. Pay-up-front
2. Pay-upon-return
In a pay-up-front rental process, the guest first purchases a rental product and pays for it in full. The guest then proceeds to a TechStation to pick up equipment. Only the type and level of equipment purchased by the guest may be checked out at the TechStation. Any exchanges, upgrades or late fees are dealt with back at the cashier in a separate sale.
In a pay-upon-return rental process the guest can check-out any type or level of equipment, although only one checkout per type is allowed at any given time. For instance, two snowboards may not be checked out on the same Rental form at the same time. The guest pays for the rentals used when they return the final piece of equipment. The Salesware Rentals module calculates the charges due based on the guest rental activity.
This section covers the basics of the Salesware Rentals module configuration and use for both the pay-up-front and pay-upon-return rental processes.
