Rentals : Appendix A: Installing the Topaz Systems electronic signature pad Appendix A: Installing the Topaz Systems electronic signature pad
Versions required:
• RentEZ 4.0.55 or higher
• c_inf_Rentals_4055.exe or higher
Siriusware integrated its TechStationPC application with a Topaz Systems, Inc. electronic signature pad. Once captured, the guest signature is stored in a new signature table that includes a signature ID, the salespoint name (TechStation instance name) where the signature took place, the operator name (tech) logged in at the time of the signature and the date/time of the signature.
For example, a rental tech has completed the binding adjustments for a guest. The tech directs the guest to sign the signature pad which currently is displaying the rental and guest information. After the guest signs the signature pad, the Rental form details displayed within the TechStationPC application indicate that there is a signature on-file for this particular rental.
Expected behaviors using the Topaz signature pad:
• Displays company name when on the Ready screen.
• Displays guest name when on the Show Form screen.
• Automatically enables signature capture any time DIN is calculated.
• Displays captured signature in Rental form.
• Allows TechStation operator to clear and re-capture a signature.
• Allows TechStation operator to capture a signature even if no DIN is calculated.
• Exhibits slight delays in the Show Form and Ready screens due to communication with the device.
Steps to install and use signature capture functionality:
1. Run the Topaz installer on each PC that supports a signature pad. Install Esignature and Sigtool Imager Plus software plugin.
2. Shut down RentEZ.
3. Edit the registry key: HKLM\Software\Siriusware\RentEZ\Preferences\SignatureCapture and set it to YES.
4. Start RentEZ.
5. Start TechStationPC and within the Settings button on the Ready screen select Signature Pad Hardware is Connected under the Signature Pad Hardware: option. The Topaz signature pad now displays your company name.
6. There is new signature pad-specific HTML code found in Ready.htm and Ready_ShowForm.htm. So if you are using customized templates for either of these files (using the _U suffix), you need to merge your customizations with the new code in those files.
7. In TechStationPC, note the following:
• When entering a Rental form the, “Welcome, <guest full name>!” message displays on the Topaz signature pad.
• A signature display box is now included in the Rental form on TechStationPC screen with two buttons: Sign and Clear.
• When the DIN is calculated, the signature capture is automatically enabled. This displays guest information and an area for the guest to sign on the Topaz pad; a, “Signature Required” message is displayed in red on the Rental form in TechStationPC.
Note: When a signature is required, the TechStation dialog is inactive until a signature is entered.
• Pressing the Sign button in TechStationPC manually enables signature capture (even when no DIN is calculated).
• The guest signature displays simultaneously on the Topaz pad and the TechStationPC screen.
Note: When a signature is entered, it is reflected in rental history.
• As soon as the guest presses OK on the Topaz pad, the signature is saved to the Rental form and stored to the signatures table.
• The signature can always be cleared and recaptured after it’s saved.
8. In the signatures table, the signatures are stored (encrypted) under the sigdata column.
Note: When troubleshooting and RentEZ has SignatureCapture = TRUE and the signature pad is displaying the, “Welcome” message to the last guest and the rental computer is rebooted, logging back into TechStationPC may be troublesome. If you simply unplug the signature pad and re-plug it back, you resolve the problem.
In addition, you can set signature pad status for each TechStationPC by using Settings > Signature Pad Hardware and select No Signature Pad Hardware Present or Signature Pad Hardware Is Connected. This setting allows you to prevent TechStationPC from attempting to initialize the signature pad if it is not present.
