Most processors for sale today are x64 (64-bit). You have the choice of running 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems and database server software on these processors. The minimum and recommended specifications provided in this section call for a 32-bit operating system and 32-bit version of SQL Server. Clients who choose to use 64-bit operating systems and/or a 64-bit version of SQL Server consults Microsoft specifications and adjust accordingly.
