Validation : Validation with a DCI (validation template) and validation products : Item/pass relationships functionality : Restricting validation to certain passes

Restricting validation to certain passes

Restricting validation to only certain passes allows more control over validation programs. Values on passes can vary in their use even though the different pass items may be loaded with the same “type” of value (e.g., more than one pass DCI is loaded with points in the Points1 field).

Example:
Guests who own Adult Unlimited passes may receive discounts on five lessons throughout the season. The Adult Unlimited is loaded with 5 points in the Points1 field. The lesson item validation template deducts 1 point from the Points1 field. The Item/Pass Relationship tab lists the Adult Unlimited pass in the Assigned passes window and restricts all other passes from validating it.

Employees may receive five free tickets throughout the season. The Employee Pass is loaded with 5 points in the Points1 field. The ticket item validation template deducts 1 point from the Points1 field. The Item/Pass Relationship tab lists the Employee Pass in the Assigned passes window and restricts all other passes from validating it.
This configuration prevents Employee Passes from receiving discounted lessons and prevents the Adult Unlimited Passes from receiving free tickets even though both pass items were loaded with the same amount of value within the same field.
